A CSS Skinnable Umbraco Website Package - Update 0.9.9

Hello all,
Well this is will be a very brief post to let you know that I have released update 0.9.9 of my Creative Website Wizard Package for Umbraco.

This release is identical as 0.9.8 which is currently in the umbraco package repository, except this version will ONLY work for Umbraco V4.

In addition to this package file and previous versions are now stored on Codeplex. This has been done as I build a new version of the package for V4 (new design, amendments etc..) You will be able to download the source and modify it to your needs.

As before if you find any MAJOR problems please let me know.

Download Creative Website Wizard version 0.9.9

Thanks,
Warren

The Creative Website Wizard was the key to my Umbraco gate... And I'm sure it will be for a lot of people, even though there's Boost now.
Go Warren!

Warren,
Great package!
Just thought to let you know I had no problems installing it on MSSQL and mySQL.
Had a few issues, but they were umbraco-related. (thanx to Niels they are all solved now though)

Cheers,

@Ruben thanks its good to hear that something I built helped out a genius like you !!

Yeh the plan is to add some more documentation and use it as a learning tool, rather than boost being a building blocks scenario.

@Peter thanks for doing some testing, I really appreciate it.

As said earlier on, I think you can now beat another 15000 download limit with this nice package.

It has helped me getting to know/learn umbraco, it will surely help 'millions' of others in the near future.

Nice Warren,

Looking forward playing around with your new stuff, and see if it can give me as much Umbraco insight as the first one ;)

Thank you are the template I am learning it atm for my site

Just to let you know (I would have emailed but found no link) there are a few typos/mistakes in your text.

The home page reads:
"This should website package be used to help you understand how umbraco works."

Should be:
"This website package should be used to help you understand how umbraco works."

and
"With this site you should understand XSLT's and .NET usercontrols if you get you hands dirty......."
should read
"With this site you should understand XSLT's and .NET usercontrols if you get your hands dirty......."

Hope it helps.

Hi, I have downloaded and installed Umbraco v4rc3 with the intention of creating a completely fresh website. I decided to install your latest web package 0.9.9 (thank you for providing this by the way, it is very much appreciated!) and everything was fine until I clicked onto the contact menu. At this point I get the following error,

Error creating control (/usercontrols/ContactForm.ascx).
Maybe file doesn't exists or the usercontrol has a cache directive, which is not allowed! See the tracestack for more information!

Any idea what I need to do fix this? I used debugging and located this text in the trace;

Error creating usercontrol (/usercontrols/ContactForm.ascx)
*:\**********\usercontrols\ContactForm.ascx(152): error BC30002: Type 'Net.NetworkCredential' is not defined.

I have replaced some of the path information with '*'. What do I need to do to fix this? I am using Vista & IIS7.

Update on my previous post. I have identified and fixed the error message that I previously reported. The problem was caused by the following line of code in your control on line 152;

'MySmtpClient.Credentials = New Net.NetworkCredential(ServerUser, ServerPass)'

by changing that to

'MySmtpClient.Credentials = New NetworkCredential(ServerUser, ServerPass)'

basically removing the Net. prefix, as it is already referenced at the top of the page, fixed the error and all works great!

Once again, thanks very much for providing the package.

Hi Warren,
I developed some web pages using umbraco and now i want to deploy the web site from another computer .so every one from network can see the site by just using IP address's URl of that pc. ( e.f http://192.168.1.1)

For this purpose i want to build installer package.

Please guide me how can i do this ? What tools or techniques i need for this ?

Thanks,
Umesh S Chape

Hello Umesh.
I perosnally think you need to read some IIS and networking tutorials in order for other users in your network to be able to see the site from an internal IP address.

However to create a new package in V4 of Umbraco.

Goto the Developer Section, expand the packages folder and right click on Created packages folder and select create, then use the wizard to create the package for you.

With any more questions you have on using the package creator in V4 I recommend you use the Umbraco forum.

Hi Warren,

First of all, thank you for your great package/template for umbraco. Just installed Creative Website Started Site.

Because I have installed Google Toolbar in Firefox 3, in this Post A Comment form, the Name and Email fields are shown with a yellow background and a yellow text (foreground) colour as well, so I can't read my name without selecting. I know, I hate that Google changes this, but just wanted to let you know.

I found a little bug in the ContactForm usercontrol:

The Html label tag should be a server tag, asp:label, with the AssociatedComponentId set to the specific textboxes. Now it's a hard coded label tag, which generates a couple of warnings with the w3c validator. I hope you understand my comment, otherwise you're free to contact me at any time.

Good luck with all your work.
