A CSS Skinnable Umbraco Website Package - Update 0.9.4

Hello all,
After getting back from NY and settling back in, I have read all of your comments in regards to my website package I have released a fix to the XSLT search people are having and I have updated the XHTML and CSS so that the logo goes to the homepage as suggested by Lars Buur.

I am not sure if this work by reinstalling the package over the top - it is unlikely, but please do let me know.

Download Creative Website Wizard version 0.9.4
NOTE: Remember to rename the .zip file to .umb

As before please post any feedback or problems with the package.

Thanks,
Warren

EDIT: This post has been updated with some screenshots of what the package will look like once you install it, as requested by Douglas Robar. Click the thumbnails to enlarge.

Exciting stuff, Warren!

I noticed you were using XSLTsearch 1.3beta3, which is rather outdated (beta5 is current, available from my site). More importantly, I’m updating XSLTsearch to 1.4 for use with umbraco v3. XSLTsearch 1.3 won’t run under umbraco v3 because of the compiled XSLT in v3. Would you care to be a beta tester for XSLTsearch 1.4? In any event, you’ll want to use 1.4 when it is available.

Also, it would be a great help to people if you could install your package on a site for people to see what they’re getting before they download and install it themselves. For instance, I’d love to see your photo gallery stuff without having to set up a new site on my server just to try it out. Could you do that for us (well, me)?

Cheers,
d.

Doug,
Yes I will test 1.4 that will work with V3 when you release it, but I yet have had time to setup V3 RC1 yet.

I plan on setting up a subdomain of this URL to showcase the package site or at the very least some screenshots.

Hi Warran

I am an umbraco newbie and want to learn deep in it. I have downloaded and deployed umbraco V3 RC1. I feel it is really a comprehensive system that provides many features.

I found you blog today while searching some templates for the umbraco V3 and read about Creative Website Wizard version 0.9.4. It seems really interesting and interactive. I have downloaded it and tried to use it but I am stuck at some point.

I have experience using umb template files through umbraco 2.1 but I don’t know how to use this Creative Website Wizard version 0.9.4 template as it is a zip file. When I unzip this file, I found many files in it. Would you please guide me how to use this template through umbraco V3? I would really appreciate your kind help.

Thanks

Hello Kashif, as the note says you need to rename the .zip file to .umb in which you can upload and install the package site into umbraco.

I have not yet tested it out on V3RC1, and as Doug has mentioned the XSLT Search will not work until he releases a new version.

Any more problems please let me know.

Warren. Thanks for the great package.

One problem I’m running into. I’ve changed the background to be black rather than white. However the h3 headers continue to show white backgrounds. I cannot find anywhere remaining in the CSS file that has ANY reference to a background color of #ffffff or similar. Furthermore I’ve attempted to specifically set them to #000000 and it will not change. Any thoughts?

OK Jeff, the problem lies with sIFR which is the flash image replacement. You will need to specify your background colour within the sIFR JS file.

Please post your site link, as I am always interested on how people are using the package.

Warren.

Hi I am also fairly new to umbraco and I love this package as it caters for the majority of small sites that I will be developing. I am yet to use umbraco in a production environment but will be doing so in the next few weeks. I am more than happy to host an “out of the box” install of the package on V3 RC1 so if that would be useful please give me the go ahead and i will set this up. Address would prob be umbracowebpackage.chocolategrape.co.uk or similar?

hi.. I have some pointers..
move the assets folder under a folder that already exists standard in a umbraco install like the data folder. This way if you do not have access to change write permissions you don’t need to update anything and the install works

I’ve installed umbraco and used your package but i’m having trouble with the News and Events lists. I want to use the News and Events List Home on the Master. It works fine on the home page but doesn’t show anything on any other page. If I use the regular News and Events, I get an XSLT error. What should I do?
08th March, 2008
Hello Kasi,
Thank you for using my package. The error is a bit vauge for me to help you, please can you give me the full error please.

Also have you tried skipping the XSLT error by using the checkbox in the XSLT editor, sometimes the in built editor can be to sensitive.

Finally what version of my package are you using, did you install it from umbraco package repoistory of from my site?

Thanks,
Warren

Hello Veki.
Thanks for showing me your modifed version of my CWS package. You have done a good job!

For the monthly archives, I am not 100% sure how you want to tackle this.

You could probably do it though with an XSLT extension to help calculate dates.
